1. About StudyGuy

StudyGuy ("we", "us", "our") is a software-as-a-service platform that allows users to upload documents and have them converted into study guides, problem solutions, and revision materials using artificial intelligence. We are operated by StudyGuy Ltd.

Our service is intended for personal educational use. We are not a school, university, or accredited educational institution.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use StudyGuy. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to use this service.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow anyone else to access your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice where necessary.

3. The service

StudyGuy allows you to upload documents (PDFs, images, and text files) which are processed using AI to produce structured study materials. The output includes summaries, key concepts, flashcard-style question and answer sets, and practice questions.

We do not guarantee that AI-generated study guides are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. You should always verify important information against your original source materials. AI outputs are a study aid, not a substitute for professional academic advice.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where possible, we will provide advance notice of significant changes.

4. User content and uploaded files

Your responsibility: By uploading a file to StudyGuy, you confirm that you have the legal right to upload and process that content. This includes holding the copyright in the material or having a lawful basis to use it (for example, a licence, fair use, or fair dealing for educational purposes).

You retain ownership of your uploaded content. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your documents.

Prohibited content: You must not upload:

• Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party without authorisation
• Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or obscene
• Personal data of third parties without their consent
• Malicious files, scripts, or code designed to harm systems
• Exam papers or assessment materials where uploading would constitute academic misconduct under your institution's rules

We are not responsible for the content of files you upload. Legal responsibility for uploaded content rests with you.

5. AI processing and Anthropic

StudyGuy uses the Anthropic Claude API to process your documents and generate study materials. By using StudyGuy, you acknowledge that your uploaded content (after text extraction) may be sent to Anthropic's API for processing.

Anthropic processes data in accordance with their own privacy and usage policies. We use Claude to generate study guides, not to train any competing AI model. The study materials we generate are the output of AI processing and are not independently fact-checked.

6. Subscriptions and payments

StudyGuy offers a free tier and a Pro subscription. Pricing and plan details are set out on our pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice.

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.

Cancellation: You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time within a billing period, except where required by applicable law.

Refunds: If you believe you are entitled to a refund under consumer protection law, please contact us at the address below within 14 days of your purchase.

7. Free tier limits

The free tier includes a limited monthly token allowance. If you reach your monthly limit, processing will be paused until the following month or until you upgrade to Pro. We reserve the right to adjust free tier limits with reasonable notice.

8. Intellectual property

StudyGuy, its branding, interface design, and underlying software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our platform or its components.

The AI-generated study guides produced from your uploaded content are yours to use for your own personal educational purposes.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from our service in an automated manner
• Circumvent usage limits or access controls
• Resell or sublicence access to our service
• Use the service in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation
• Interfere with or disrupt the security or integrity of our systems
• Use AI outputs from StudyGuy to train or fine-tune any AI or machine learning model

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StudyGuy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of academic progress, or reliance on inaccurate AI-generated content.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or fitness of the service for any particular purpose.

AI-generated study materials may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. They should be used as a supplement to, not a replacement for, your own study and professional academic advice.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by displaying a notice within the service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in another jurisdiction, you may also have additional rights under your local consumer protection laws that are not affected by this clause.
